Surf spots

Lacanau-Océan
    South beach

L a Nord, L'Ecureuil, La Centrale, Le Lion... do you really know the locations of the Canaulais spots and their names??
The surf spots of Lacanau-Océan have a worldwide reputation, which has spread thanks to the Lacanau Pro competition created in 1979.
With a golden period that made Lacanau Pro a major stop on the world circuit, the name of Lacanau became known to the surfing world to become highly media-friendly.

- La Barrière: named after the forest barrier that blocks access to the track. A multitude of changing spots accessible only on foot or by bike. Waves for everyone, confidentiality, friendliness and sharing required.

- The Lion: Lion road. Access by car, bicycle. A multitude of changing spots. Slightly crowded waves in front of the lifeguard station, less people on the sides. Quiet atmosphere.

- Jah Point: takes the nickname of a local from the Canau which often overrated this place in the 80s. Access by car or bicycle. Big steep dune before reaching the spot, enough to warm up. Changing waves, rather favorable at high tide. Quiet atmosphere.

- L'Ecureuil: takes the name of the street just next to the spot. Access by car, bicycle. Multitude of changing spots. Rather quiet atmosphere. Many locals who live just behind the spot. Respect, share .

- The South: takes its name from the geographical location. Access by car, bike.  On the side of the southern dyke, often a left but quite a bit of current. Just before the Ecureuils post, often a right. Changing waves. Crowded atmosphere.

- La Centrale: takes its name from the geographical location. Access by car, bicycle. In front of the aid station, often a right. In front of the north dike, often a right-left peak. These 2 areas are quite stable, the sand being fixed by the dikes. Lots of current. Crowded atmosphere.

- The North: takes its name from the geographical location. Access by car, bicycle. Often a long straight that runs from the wide to the edge. Random waves further north. Local atmosphere and good level of surfing.

- L'Alexandre: named after the forest house. A multitude of changing spots accessible only on foot or by bike. Waves for everyone, confidentiality, conviviality and rigorous sharing. The atmosphere is not that of the spots of La Centrale.
